5. Mandee suggested establishing a Scholarship Fund for our children.
6. Confidentially statement needed to assure members in need privacy if they need to reach
out for help to attend events - added to our event invitations.
Vote taken and agreed $890 should be put in bank account with some being reserved for
petty cash.
1. Fundraising
- Theresa Baldinucci-Greenberg will be unable to co-chair with Mandee.
- Discussed what percentage of funds should go towards donations, scholarships and
operating expenses? Will resume at next meeting.
- tapping into our own members pockets too often; Need to reach out to the community more.

- Need to make sure they are logged into FCCNY system.

7. Holiday Party
This year to keep costs low the holiday party will be a cookie exchange at the Church in
Amityville. Researched lower cost catering halls where a cost of $32-$35 per adult would be
possible for future parties. $19.95 for kids.
- Should there be a Santa exchange at party? (Already out there, so yes for this party)
- Need cap on amount family pays to attend cookie exchange if family has several children –
decided on $25.
- Need to put cap on the amount of people to attend due to limited space.
8. Special Needs meeting at Lauren's house. Well attended.
9. Men's Club – Chairs not present. Nothing discussed.
10. Education
– Lucky Girl – FCCNY paid for room and other expenses
- ADA Panel – hard to coordinate
- Check with Cathy Danowsky for possible future programs
- Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) – Danielle has had no luck reaching
- Taiwan American Association of LI (TALLI) – Entertainers perform for free. They do culture
camps in Plainview and Centereach.
11. Waiting Families – Michelle doing a great job coordinating and keeping track of families
in the process. 15 families currently on roster.
- resume making phone calls to families in China – Jayne Hirsch
- posting to Yahoo group when families are lvg/house decoration – needs ok from family
before posting to group with address.
- money for decorating will be made available
- JeanMarie Urban will make signs available via email
-get-together should be planned for when families are home – sometime January perhaps.
- would like to merge two Yahoo groups (regular FCCLI and Waiting Families LI)

- FCCNY needs improvement.
13. Lending Library – chairperson having baby any day – not present
14. Chinese New Year Party – March 7, 2010
- Missy needs help. Would need several people to commit to help in order to go forward and
form committees to share the work. Possibly contact an event planner to determine
cost/value of having hired help.
- can get Wang Center for $120
- Asian Faculty and staff – sponsoring event?
- shorten number of hours of party
- do not serve full meal, just appetizers?
- do not have market place?
- have workshops for kids/adults
- show movies such as “Adopted” for adults, and something for children
- dragon dance still wanted.
- 8 AM earliest time allowed in bldg for set-up.
15. Youth Group
- first meeting “Friendship” worked out well. Boys and Girls mingled. Approximately 25 kids.
- next meeting will be Dec. 5th – Ice Skating. FCC will pay for small give-away to kids at the
event since no money needed to rent space.
- CNY Dumpling Making Party Feb 6th. Bring along 1 friend from outside adoption community
- discussed possible need for Girls Only and Boys Only gatherings in the future. Youth
Group should remain co-ed, with occasional same sex gatherings held in alternate months.
- Will try to come up with fundraising activity for Youth Group.
- Meetings and events must be well organized and structured to keep children controlled.
Parental supervision needed at all times.
