Race DOES Matter - maybe not in your home, but it does for your child the
minute they go out into the world.  We're going to have great discussions
utilizing the companion DVD's from the film ADOPTED.
 It is not necessary to
have attended the film screening of ADOPTED - everybody is
encouraged to attend
!  WE made the decision to adopt transracially - and WE
owe it to our children to be up to the important challenge of raising children of
another race.  Let's learn together how to make our homes places were such
topics may be discussed safely.  Just because your child isn't talking about
these things, doesn't mean that your child isn't internalizing these issues.  You
may be the one that needs to initiate these conversations.

Let's get together as adoptive parents - no matter if your child is home yet - or
what their age - so that we can guide our children in forming their racial
identities!

We must do better - We CAN do better!
